Mary Ellen Copeland, MS, MA
Mary Ellen Copeland, MS, MA is an author, educator, and mental health advocate who has specialized in the successful management of psychiatric symptoms since 1988. Her work grew out of her own frustration in dealing with the extreme ups and downs of mood that had plagued her much of her life and is based on her intensive nationwide studies of thousands of people who have psychiatric symptoms. Ms. Copeland is the author of The Depression Workbook: A Guide to Living with Depression and Manic Depression, Living without Depression and Manic Depression: A Guide to Maintaining Mood Stability, Wellness Recovery Action Plan, Adolescent Depression Workbook, The Worry Control Workbook, Winning Against Relapse, Healing the Trauma of Abuse, and The Loneliness Book. She is the producer of the audiotapes Winning Against Relapse Program and Living with Depression and Manic Depression and the co-producer of the video Coping with Depression. She is currently co-producing a video, Wellness Workshop, with The Mental Illness Education Project, collaborating on the development of seven self-help booklets for the Center for Mental Health Services (a federal agency), and continuing her series of recovery skills workshops all over the world for consumer groups, mental health agencies and facilities, managed care groups, and universities.
